Our founder and CEO, Dana Crum, is a Princeton-educated specialist with substantial expertise in all the services Prose Wizard provides. He has 18 years of experience teaching English and creative writing and 16 years of experience as a tutor of English, ESL, test prep and admissions consulting. Horace Mann, Prep for Prep, Ramapo College of New Jersey, the Art Academy of Cincinnati and Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) are some of the institutions where he has taught. The many years Crum has spent editing and writing (he is an award-winning poet, essayist and novelist) complement his teaching and tutoring background. In addition to a BA in English from Princeton University, he holds an MFA in Creative Writing from VCU.
An ESL student whose grades in English went from D’s to A’s while he was under Crum’s tutelage, states, “Mr. Crum offered me crucial support in reading and writing, and gave me hope to succeed in English during the most frustrating period of my life.” A former colleague explains that Crum “has a gentle earnestness about him, which is disarming and makes him immediately likable, but he’s also serious, knowledgeable and attentive to students and their needs.” As another former colleague puts it, “Dana Crum is a highly talented, mature, insightful and accomplished writer who is among the select group of the most dedicated teachers I have encountered in my own thirty-year career as a college professor.”
