Candidacy Building
Let’s begin with what you already know. You should start preparing for college (building your candidacy) long before you sit down to fill out applications senior year. You should do your best in your classes and on aptitude exams (e.g., the SAT), securing academic tutoring and/or test prep if necessary. You should choose extracurricular activities that reveal your talents, interests and goals and then follow through with significant involvement in these activities not only during the school year but also during the summer. Furthermore, if you don’t deliberately and consistently build your candidacy throughout high school, all you can do senior year is create the strongest application possible given your transcript, test scores and extracurricular activities. If you instead build your candidacy with the proper vision and sustained commitment throughout high school, your application will be more impressive in and of itself but will ultimately serve as incontrovertible documentation of achievements that are undeniable. You know all of that. The question is what is the “proper vision” with which you should build your candidacy. That’s where we come in. We will help you choose the courses, aptitude exams, extracurricular activities, leadership positions and competitions that will yield the strongest possible application. We can even advise you on the best high schools in your area. And for an additional fee, we can provide you with academic tutoring and test prep.
